BREAKING: This Weekend’s LouFest Cancelled
I get up every morning at about 3am. I have my clock set to Matchbox 20 Standard Time. I don't get into the office until 5am, and don't crack the mic until about 6am. Why do I get up so early? Because things happen overnight. I need to catch up on those things. Things like LouFest being cancelled literally three days before it was supposed to start.
The aforementioned link cites financial difficulty as the primary reason for cancelling the event, after losing top sponsors. They've also had trouble securing contracts for the talent slated to appear. St Louis Public Radio even reported that several contractors, including sound, lighting, and trash service hadn't been paid, and were pulling out of the festival.
The message goes on to say, "Although we don’t currently have the funds to issue refunds, the exceptional festival ticketing company we selected, Front Gate Tickets, owned by Live Nation and Ticketmaster, will be stepping up to refund all fans in full while we work to repay our debts." So if you had tickets, you will still be able to get a refund.
I hope this can be salvaged for next year, and rise from the ashes like the mighty phoenix. Maybe under new management and ownership. I was looking forward to this year's line-up that included Brothers Osborne, Kacey Musgraves, Gary Clark Jr. and Modest Mouse.
Might still be worth following on Facebook in case it does make a comeback. Even though it's been here for years.
