When you were younger, did you and your friends have that one park that wasn’t just a hangout—but a big part of your childhood?

A Playground That Stands Out in Missouri

I think everyone has that place where they spent hot summer days with friends—playing on playgrounds, running through sprinklers, and climbing anything you could. There are plenty of amazing parks across the Tri-State area that offer all of that and more, but one park in Missouri is now getting national attention as one of the best public parks in the state.

The half-acre Variety Wonderland Playground, located inside Forest Park, is considered one of the best playgrounds in the Show-Me State, according to USA Today’s 10Best list.

What Makes Variety Wonderland Playground Unique

The park is one of the first playgrounds in the St. Louis area designed to be fully accessible to children of all abilities. With features like a rock wall, climbing nets, slides, swings, sensory panels, and a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round, water feature, and garden, it’s no surprise this park is getting national recognition.

I’ve never been to this park, and my girls say they’re too old to swing and hang out on a playground—but I always remind them you’re never too old for swings and slides.

So, if you’re planning a visit to the St. Louis Zoo or the Missouri Botanical Garden, make sure to add Variety Wonderland Playground to your to-do list—because the best part? It’s free.
