Atomic Scientists Gather in Illinois to Warn the World
Earlier today the Chicago Based “Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists” moved the Doomsday Clock one second closer to midnight. 11:58:31pm, 89 seconds to midnight is the closest to midnight, or Doomsday the clock has ever been set.
University of Chicago Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics Daniel Holz said that this move is “an indication of extreme danger and an unmistakable warning.”

This is the 75th year of the Doomsday Clock being updated. Originally used as a vehicle to warn against nuclear proliferation, today it has folded in climate issues too, and recently it has included AI and potential global pathogens into the threat to humanity.
The Doomsday clock isn’t housed in the buildings or facilities focused on the hard sciences on the campus at the University of Chicago. Instead, it is in the Keller Center which is where the university’s Harris School of Public Policy is located.
The group says the Doomsday Clock isn’t meant to scare people, but inspire people to action. The Bulletin's statement then proceeds to list off things people (who aren’t supposed to be scared) are to do to avoid “Doomsday”, including pressuring government into action on the list provided. Which begs the question. Are we to believe that politicians don’t acknowledge the clock, or the list of dangers mentioned above?...Pretty sure they’re aware. That leaves us with this thought..—Is this vehicle for awareness? Or, manipulation?
Uh-Oh….Did that question move us closer to midnight?
