Among the counties on this week’s warning list are Adams and Pike counties in western Illinois.
The reasons a county reaches a warning level vary, but officials say some common factors include an increase in cases and outbreaks that are associated with large gatherings, long-term care facilities, correctional centers or schools.
Through Thursday, Adams County had reported 101 new coronavirus cases, while officials in Pike County reported 31 new COVID cases.
