You Can Retire to Margaritaville Beginning in 2018
I wouldn't say I'm a Parrothead. I don't wear a straw hat and follow Jimmy Buffett around on tour. But damn do I love his music. Some nights I like just chilling with a record spinning on the turn table, and a glass of rum in hand. "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" is one of my all time favorite tracks. As I am now about 30 years away from retirement, it's good to know that soon a retirement community will be open that caters to my love of Buffett, desire to be near a beach, and a third thing to be named later.
That's right, to go along with his Margaritaville Cafe and Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants, The Dread Pirate Jimmy has announced that he will break ground on a chain of retirement communities, dubbed 'Latitude Margaritaville,' for what he has dubbed the "55 and better" crowd. It doesn't look all-inclusive like a resort, so the Margaritas won't flow like wine, but it will definitely be a very island chill vibe. You can get on the mailing list for updates at the website.
The first office will open up later this year, with the first residents expected to move in by late 2018. As I said, I'm still about 30 years away from retirement age. Which gives me some time to save up the $200,000-$300,000 cost for a condo. I suppose I could go full Buddhist monk minimalist in my living until then. Maybe Jimmy will let me work it off. Like, I'll go be the in-house radio DJ for Latitude Margaritaville. I wouldn't mind spending my golden years spinnin' tunes. Or something... Jimmy and I will work it out.
