Were You at The Biggest Country Concert in Missouri History?
If you’ve been to a lot of concerts, you get to a point where the smaller and more intimate a venue you can see an artist at, the better. The exception to the rule is when you have a chance to be part of something special that includes an extra-large crowd, and venue.

In March of 2019, one of those exceptions occurred. Garth Brooks kicked off his Stadium Tour in St. Louis at the Dome at America’s Center. Over 75,000 fans jammed into the dome for that show. The tour kickoff lasted two and a half hours, filled with 30 songs. Compared to Brooks high energy performances from years past, Garth stated that this tour in stadiums was focused on the songs and being together with fans, which is much more of a small venue perspective. When you are Garth, you can have both.

Brooks kicked off the show with “The Road I’m On”, which would be the first track on his forthcoming 2020 release “Fun”. His wife Trisha Yearwood joined him onstage for a couple of her songs too, accompanied by only Garth and his acoustic guitar. His set closed with “The Dance” from his debut album in 1989. Then Garth came back for a 10 song encore.

That set the tone for the Stadium Tour moving forward, and is still the largest country concert in Missouri history. His show at Arrowhead stadium was only a thousand or so fewer. For those keeping ultimate attendance score in the Show-Me State – yes, the Ozark Music Festival in Sedalia in 1974 was much larger. But it wasn’t a country only concert. That’s a crazy story for another day.
