Yard Waste Pickup Returns March 16 — What Homeowners Need to Know
Are you itching to clean up your yard after the fall and winter months? I know I am! Well, good news, the wait is over.
When Yard Waste Pickup Resumes
Starting March 16, Evans Recycling will resume residential yard waste pickup after the winter break. That means it’s time to dust off the cobwebs from your rakes and yard tools and get outside to start cleaning up your yard.
Rules for Branches and Bundles
There are so many leaves and sticks in my yard that I’m more than ready to get everything cleared away and looking nice for spring. If you can’t wait for curbside pickup, you can always bring your yard waste directly to the facility during the off-season. It’s located at 711 West Radio Road.
Approved Yard Waste Bags
If you plan to use curbside pickup, there are a few important guidelines homeowners should remember. Branches and sticks may be bundled together and placed at the curb for collection, but they cannot exceed 2 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length.
Be sure to use biodegradable paper bags, which are available at most local stores, and place them at the curb for pickup. Plastic bags will not be collected, and each bag cannot exceed 40 pounds.
If you prefer using containers, make sure they are reusable containers, such as large outdoor garbage cans, and place them at the curb for collection. Containers must be clearly marked with a 2-inch-wide stripe in a contrasting color located 12 inches from the top of the container.

So, who’s ready for some yard work?
