Winter Storm Warning, Up to a Foot of Snow, Maybe More by Thurs

The National Weather Service has now issued Winter Storm Warnings for most of northeast Missouri and western Illinois from Tuesday evening until Thursday evening.

Officially, the warning for Adams, Brown and Pike counties in Illinois and the Missouri counties of Knox, Lewis, Shelby, Marion, Monroe, Ralls, Pike and Audrain runs from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters are calling for snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches with locally higher amounts, along with up to two-tenths of an inch of sleet and winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour.

In Hancock County, Illinois, their Winter Storm Warning begins at 9 p.m. Tuesday, running through 6 p.m. Thursday.

Predictions there are for 6 to 10 inches of snow, with the possibility of blowing and drifting snow.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory for Clark County, Missouri. They can expect from 3 to 6 inches of snow, with blowing and drifting snow also possible there.

Everyone is expecting hazardous travel conditions, and officials with MODOT and IDOT are advising against travel Wednesday into Thursday.
