A new study has found that the color of your bedroom walls can have a big affect on how you sleep and your overall mood.

People with blue walls get the most sleep. 7 hours and 52 minutes on average in fact. It's not only because blue is calming but it also triggers special receptors in our eyes that aid the body's natural sleep rhythms.

Purple walls are the worst for sleep with people getting an average of 5 hours and 56 minutes. The study says purple is a stimulating color that makes it harder for your brain to shut down.

Brown came in second to last at 6 hours and 5 minutes of sleep on average.

So if you need a good night's sleep it may not be a new mattress you need, it may just be a can of paint. It's also a bad idea to sleep on a park bench.
