Listen, the Lake of the Ozarks lands on a ton of "best of" lists it's time for the love to be shared among other lakes in the state. Love Exploring seems to agree that there are a few lakes in the Show-Me State that deserve some recognition. Such as Longview Lake which was just named the Most Beautiful Lake in Missouri. They say,

Longview Lake, just outside Kansas City, is streaked with shades from cherry to scarlet, contrasting beautifully with the water’s silvery surface.

It may not be much to look at during the daylight, but it seems once the sun starts to set and those bright sunset colors start to come out it's the place to be and take in. I personally have never been to this lake but I have heard of it. One of my friends had her wedding photos taken there during the fall and those are some of the most amazing photos I've ever seen.

The lake itself has over 900 acres of water to entain in. You can fish, kayak and canoe, paddle board, and of course, swim. It really looks like a fun place to hang out for a day or even for a weekend.

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
