Illinois has its reputation for being a "not great state" to live in, but if you find yourself moving to Illinois or relocating there are safe and beautiful places to live in the Land of Lincoln.

According to Safe Wise, Illinois has the 3rd highest level of concern in the nation when it comes to being safe in any town.

Around 53% of Illinois residents worry about property crime and 56% worry about package theft—decreases of around 13% each, year over year.

To determine the safest towns in the state Safe Wise looked at several different types of data including property crime rates, violent crime rates, and what towns are doing to combat crime in their area.

La Salle
Gilberts
Western Springs
Winfield
Hampshire

Besides La Salle, I haven't heard of any of these towns, but maybe that is why they are safe, no one knows that they exist. Sometimes that's the best thing to do, make it to where people have never heard of the town, and this way crime stays down.
