Local and regional favorite, The Junction Restaurant and Lounge in Perry, MO served its last plate of food on Sunday, marking the end of an era for the Mark Twain Lake area. It was a tradition at the lake since 1983.

On January 10, their Facebook page read, “It’s with great sadness that The Junction Restaurant and Lounge will close their doors at 2p.m today. We will have a very limited menu which we will post around 10 this morning. Thank you for your generosity and patronage over the years. The staff at the Junction will miss all of you.”

The Junction’s owner and operator Tyler Smith died on Dec. 8 at the age of 53. He was a fixture there since he bought the location in 2006.

Visitors to Mark Twain Lake made The Junction a regular stop. Locals stopped in for lunch or date night during the dinner hour. Many area residents from the last few decades will have great memories of the nightclub. When I came home from college, that’s where I would meet up with my friends. In fact, my high school class of 1986 in Monroe City held its 5th year class reunion there.
