The Best Bar in all of Chicago has Unexpectedly closed
It is a sad day for Chicagoans and tourists alike... The most famous bar in the Windy City closed its doors unexpectedly this week and the reason why it closed should be causing more legendary businesses to worry.
According to NBC Chicago, the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the former Hancock Building in Chicago, aka the highest bar in the city, has closed. NBC Chicago says this on their site...
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closing of our beloved Signature Room at the 95th effective Thursday, September 28, 2023," the sign, obtained by NBC Chicago, read. "For over 30 years, we have had the privilege and honor of serving Chicagoans and visitors from all over the world. Unfortunately, after the closure of our city and restaurant due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been faced with severe economic hardship and the challenges have been greater than anticipated."
The article goes on to mention that the employees of the Signature Room were sent a memo of the closing, and in the memo the HR team sent out, they mentioned how this is shocking, and overwhelming to them to be going through this decision. To read more on the situation, click here!
Devastating...As a person who was born in Chicago, raised in Chicagoland, and lived in the city for the majority of my twenties this news stinks. The Signature Room offered you a way to see the best city in the USA with a drink in hand, and for it to be closed now is sad.
What is even sadder is that it had to close due to severe economic hardship...If a place that is always busy and successful like the Signature Lounge can close down in these times then that means ANY legendary bar, restaurant, or tourist attraction, could be next...
