A rash of thefts in numerous stores has led Target to announce it will be closing 9 different stores in 4 different states. The good news is that it does not appear that Illinois locations are affected - yet.
I'm very happy that Quincy, Illinois will finally have the long-rumored Target store it's always wanted. My excitement however is mixed with some fear though, too. Why? My prediction is that the grand opening will be an extinction level event and I'll explain why.

A report is out suggesting there are TWO possible retailers for the old Kmart location in Quincy... Target & Costco...So if these are the finalists which one would be BEST for Quincy?
I'm not trying to draw any conclusions from this, but I find it very interesting that someone has located some job listings for a Target store...in Quincy. That's curious since we don't have a Target store in Quincy. Yet.
As I drive up and down Broadway, I notice there are more and more empty buildings with many businesses leaving or closing down Quincy. The same goes for Hannibal too, so I ask you, what businesses do you want to come to the Tri-States?
