Hot dog! Smokey, a Labrador/Retriever mix based out of Station 2 in Jacksonville, Illinois, has been named winner of the NBC 'Chicago Fire' Top Dog Competition. Smokey will appear on NBC’s 'Chicago Fire' in a cameo role during an upcoming episode later this season. More than 100 firehouse dogs nationwide entered the contest. Smokey will also make an appearance on 'Today.'

Entries Being Sought for the November 9 Veteran’s Parade in Quincy
Entries are being sought for the 6th Annual Veteran's Parade which will be held in Quincy on Saturday November 9. The parade, after a 35 year absence, started up again in 2008 and has been going strong ever since thanks to the Co-Chairmen Dick McKinney and Jim Ponsot. This year's parade will be held from 12th to 5th on Maine Street and will begin at 10 a.m. with the lineup beginning at 9 a.m. from

This summer is flying by. Hard to believe we're only a couple weeks away from August. And, that means we're also only a couple weeks away from the Payson Old Settler's Picnic.  The fun will get rolling with the opening ceremonies at 5pm on Friday, August 3rd.  On that Friday night, the Payson Old Settlers Queen competition will be decided.  Saturday afternoon around 1pm will be the Grand Parade.
