Hauntings

I've always found it curious when someone refers to a cemetery as "haunted". It's the resting place of the dead obviously. There's one Missouri cemetery that has a unique legend attached to it. It's said to be the most haunted in the state where a former caretaker was murdered...yet still lives.

If you look at the places in Missouri that are said to have the most supernatural activity, you'll notice one in particular that also has a famous gangster connection. It was a regular hangout of convicted mobster Al Capone and there are many who believe that he never really left.

Almost every town in America can claim that something is haunted. Not many can say that everything in town has paranormal activity, but that's the sad tale of a Missouri ghost town known as Windyville.

A lot of old homes have stories, but few have the history of this Missouri mansion. It began as a dream home, but became a sanitorium after the untimely death of a young girl named Sophia. Now, it's officially considered one of the most haunted buildings in Missouri.

It's funny what some people consider a "vacation". For some, that apparently includes visiting a haunted Missouri cemetery where there's a decent chance you'll leave with scratches and scars from the experience.

Many places in Illinois claim to be haunted, but few can claim as many paranormal happenings as Bachelor's Grove Cemetery. It is allegedly home to the "White Lady" and unholy rituals from secret groups.

It's a much-visited historic Missouri bridge. What could possibly go wrong if you were to visit it at night? If legend is to be believed, you don't want to find out.

It was like a dream team of paranormal investigators. The original Ghost Hunters teamed up with Destination Fear to investigate the old Joliet prison in Illinois and they encountered a lot of unexplained phenomena including voices.

We've seen a lot of investigations of the Old Missouri State Penitentiary over the years. The fact that most ghost hunters consider it one of the most haunted places in the Midwest is the reason why. One TV show recently returned to the penitentiary and found new things that went bump in the night.

When you think of clowns, the hope is that you'll associate that with laughter and happiness. In the case of the Illinois clown graveyard, the opposite is true. It's the story of a tragedy that took the lives of 86 entertainers late at night on June 22, 1918.
