They don't make bridges like they used to and that's kind of sad. A new video tour shows the remaining covered bridges in Illinois which harken back to a long-gone era of travel.

I know it sounds weird to apply emotions to inanimate objects, but this bridge just oozes sadness. It's an abandoned Missouri bridge that once was a part of the legendary Route 66.
I am a history buff and there's no state that has more of it than Missouri. That includes some of the state's swinging bridges although a driver across one of these 100-year-old structures now would require white knuckle moments.
