This Saturday is the 20th Annual Walk to End Alzheimer's at Clat Adams Park in Quincy. Many teams are gearing up and raising much needed funds to help the Central Illinois Chapter reach its goal!
The Quincy Area Branch of the Alzheimer’s Association is selling the 2013 seventh-in-the-series hand blown holiday ornament by regional artist Hiram Toraason during the holiday season. The limited-edition 5-inch ornament is especially designed for the Central Illinois Chapter with shades of bright purple, snowy white, with just a touch of blue.
When I got dressed to come to work this morning I had no idea that my purple shirt would match the purple toilet that showed up on the front door of the radio station. The toilet, as it turns out, is a fund raising promotion for the Alzheimer's Association. Oh I knew about the fundraiser, since I am on the board of directors.
The Walk to End Alzheimer's is coming up on Thursday, September 5 at Clat Adams Park in Quincy. Over the years this event has become very well attended and with that boom in participation comes the need for volunteers to make the event happen.

The Alzheimer’s Association-Quincy Branch is proud to announce that its 2012 Chapter Ornament is now available. These limited edited, blown glass ornaments are handcrafted by central Illinois artist Hiram Toraason. This is the sixth in an annual series of 5-inch ornaments featuring the Association’s signature color of purple.
