The demand for more energy never seems to go down. We always need more to keep living in the ways we become accustomed to and to grow into the future we imagine.

With the prices on energy going up right now the question becomes where to turn for more energy to bring the price down? Nuclear might be the best answer in Missouri. It’s been over 40 years since the  Callaway nuclear plant went online near Fulton. It’s still the only nuclear plant in Missouri.

The focus since the turn of the century has been to turn towards solar and wind. They have helped to a certain extent, but storage of that power has always been an issue. If the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing is there an energy source we can turn to that will keep everything going without drops in power or blackouts? Nuclear seems to be the obvious answer.

With Missouri’s population growing in Kansas City, the St. Louis suburbs, Columbia, Springfield and Cape Girardeau, and a growing need to have ample energy for new businesses to find the state an easy choice to set up shop in having nuclear plants in the process of coming online could pave the way for continued growth.

Several other states are in the process of building nuclear plants. Georgia and Wyoming are already underway. Florida, Tennessee and New York are all making steps toward nuclear plant builds to make sure energy in the future isn’t a lingering problem.
