As the hours count down to Halloween, more and more people who have procrastinated on choosing a costume are snap buying online. As with anything these days, you need to do your due diligence on who you are dealing with. If you don't, you may get tricked instead of treated.

There are scammers out there who have taken the time to put together pages and websites that look like legitimate business websites for Halloween costumes, but they aren’t. Like many things online, it’s all in an effort for you to hand over your personal info, numbers and money. Scammers don’t miss a trick (no pun intended there).

The Better Business Bureau says these sites will play into your situation and desire. They will state that they have overstocked costumes and super low prices. Another scenario that seems too good to be true that has arrived just in time to save you from Halloween embarrassment. But, like you were taught when you were young, when those situations arise they are almost always a scam. There is almost always something else going on. In this case the scammers are angling to obtain your credit info following your 'purchase'. You may get a costume, but you also may not.

These sites, especially on social media, appear very professional. Tricking people into believing they are real. But take the time to research the company location. See if what is posted matches on Google maps. Also, search for reviews. There may be some that say everything was great, but there will probably be others that will comment right away that they got scammed. As usual, let the buyer beware.
