Speed Puzzling is Coming for Illinois Group Gamers
In the search to find the next group gaming craze, as trivia seems like it is finishing its run, I landed on the burgeoning chain of “Great Big Game Show” as a natural option.

The problem that kept nagging at me was maximizing numbers for participants in a measured window experience of three hours. While “Great Big Game Show” has plenty of potential, there is a finite number of people you could have play at one time. For fundraisers maximizing participation is paramount. The more people you have playing simultaneously, the more money raised.

The more I searched and talked with those who participate in the current trivia circuit, I found that the talk within that world is that the next thing is going to be “Speed Puzzling”
Speed Puzzling is exactly what it sounds like. Your team members (or just yourself) if that’s the specific competition have jigsaw puzzle to put together as fast as you can.
Teams for this type game seem like a natural. More eyes working at once could make quick work of a puzzle. They could also clumsily fumble around the pieces knocking some to the floor unknowingly to slow the process by unknown amounts of time. You could also get into individual competitions.
Surprise! There is a US Jigsaw Puzzle Association with regional, national and global competitions for Speed Puzzling that ranks members based on events that they hold online. Speed Puzzling also has it's own website and Illinois has it's own speed puzzling clubs and state competitions..(!!!) There is already a puzzling culture in place which is nice to have if there are questions -which will definitely arise as Speed Puzzling becomes more popular.
Be on the lookout. Speed Puzzling is coming to break apart your trivia team. Can you put it back together?
