Quincy Culver’s Under Fire After Farmer’s Viral Facebook Post
A Facebook post about Quincy’s Culver’s restaurant has gone viral and struck a nerve with many in the community.
A post dated February 1 by Quest Flesner reads:
ATTENTION READ!! Culver’s no longer accepts Livestock Farmers at their restaurant in Quincy IL. Me and 2 other farmers went in to order lunch and the manager refused to serve us because and I quote “farmers that smell like livestock are not welcome” end quote.
The post has since been deleted, but a screenshot posted by Chad Bloyd of Mendon has brought in more than 500 shares.
Jim May, owner of the Quincy Culver’s restaurant, released a statement on his personal page that reads:
Culver’s of Quincy apologizes for the incident that occurred at our restaurant on Wednesday involving some guests. This incident could have been handled more appropriately. We support our local farmers and the entire agriculture community.
