
Missouri Places 8 Companies in the Fortune 500
The Show-Me state is home to many profitable companies that we are familiar with. Stalwarts like Purina, Hallmark, Enterprise, Bass Pro Shops, Boeing, Peabody Energy, Ameren and many others are headquartered in Missouri. None of the above listed made the Fortune 500 list this year. Here’s who did.

Centene – The St. Louis based healthcare company is the big dog (mule) of Missouri business these days, coming in at #23 on the 500, and bringing in over $163 billion in revenue.
ReInsurance Group of America – REG in Chesterfield, MO. focuses on financial management utilizing re-insurance. They ranked 196 out of 500 and brought in $22.1 billion in revenue.
Emerson Electric - Automation manufacturer and engineering group based in Clayton, Mo. placed at #238 on the Fortune 500 and made $17.5 billion in revenue.
O’Reilly Automotive – Springfield Missouri’s auto parts retail giant came in at #249, bringing in $16.7 billion in revenue.
Edward Jones – Financial advisors out of St. Louis landed at #260 this year, raking in $16.3 billion in earnings.
Graybar Electric – One of the largest employee owned companies in the USA, Graybar in St. Louis distributes electrical, data network and communication and logistic products and services. This year they came in at #365 and earned $11.6 billion.
Post Holdings – Long standing consumer packaged foods company headquartered in St. Louis makes the Fortune 500 this year at #477 after bringing in $8 billion in revenue.
Core & Main – Providing water, wastewater, fire protection and storm drainage products out of St. Louis, Mo. They just made it into the 500 this year at #497 and made $7.4 billion.
Interesting that 7 of the 8 Fortune 500 companies in Missouri are in the St. Louis metro. 1 in Springfield and none this year in Kansas City.
