New year, new you, right? If your New Years' resolution is to hit the gym and lose some weight you're probably not alone. Starting 2023 off on a healthier foot is what two of Missouri's most important cities may need to do, as they both ended up on the list of the Most Overweight Cities of 2022.

According to WalletHub.com, St. Louis and Kansas City are two of the most overweight and obese cities in America. St. Louis comes in at 49th on the list and Kansas City is not too far ahead at 44th place which isn't exactly 1st and second on the list, those spots belong to McAllen, Texas, and Memphis, Tennessee. But the numbers aren't great for two of the BBQ capitals of the world.

In the article WalletHub says...

"Being obese is bad for a person’s health in general, but it’s especially dangerous during the COVID-19 pandemic, as it increases the risk of serious symptoms and may even triple the risk of hospitalization, according to the CDC...In fact, over 40 percent of U.S. adults are obese. Such a finding should come as no surprise, though, considering the huge availability of fast-food and increasingly cheaper grocery items that have negatively altered our diets. "

The majority of the top obese cities in the US are in the southern part of the country, in fact, I was surprised to see that Chicago and its surrounding area ranked 80th on this list which is wayyy lower than all the major cities in the south. Why do you think the south has more obesity issues in its major cities than the north?
