Missouri High School Football – Moberly at Hannibal
The Pirates begin the final third of the regular season Friday night at Porter Stadium in Hannibal needing a win.
Having lost a tight one in Kirksville last week Hannibal finds itself at 3-3 overall, 2-1 in the conference. Right on time arrive the Moberly Spartans at 2-4 overall and also 2-1 in the conference.
Moberly is coming into America’s hometown on a two game winning streak, and outscoring their opponents (Fulton and Marshall) in those games 91-14.

The Spartans lean heavily on Junior running back Ka’Von Tiger. Job one for the Pirates will be to contain him and make Moberly have to alter their offensive game plan.
The Pirate defense wasn’t bad in Kirksville, they just didn’t get stops when they needed them.
The Pirates should get back to their scoring ways of previous weeks (before Kirksville). Mike Ferreira and Darrion Washington will be called upon again by coach Jeff Gschwender and Landon Essig has been increasingly important to the Pirate offense in recent games. Senior Quarterback Waylon Anders is more than capable of leading Hannibal through this latest test.
Both Hannibal and Moberly have played Fulton and Kirksville. They both beat Fulton, and both lost to Kirksville. The Pirates did better than Moberly in both those games, but the outcomes were the same.
Moberly will be up for this trip to Hannibal. The Pirates should be ready to send them home wanting.
