There is a new viral tweet going around helping people figure out how to do tough math. It all started with a tweet from a guy named Ben Stephens on March 3rd explaining a simpler way to do percentages.

x% of y = y% of x

So, for example, if you needed to work out 4% of 75 in your head, just flip it and and do 75% of 4, which is easier.

MIND BLOWN! I was definitely today years old when I learned this. Percentages are one of the few things from the math world you are constantly using as an adult. Whenever you're shopping and attempting to figure out what the discount on clothes, movies, or food this trick can easily help you. I haven't taken a math class since my freshmen year of college and I can honestly say I learned more helpful math by reading this guys tweet then I did taking that math class. So I have to ask the question, why isn't this being taught in schools? Or ask your kids, maybe it is being taught now and I just missed out on it. Either way I hope that people can use this at the very least to make sure you are tipping your servers properly.
