LeAnn Rimes is bringing it all back to the beginning with a reworked recording of her debut single, "Blue." More than half a century after it was written, Rimes' new interpretation of the song proves that its appeal holds true in this stripped-down new setting. Press play above to hear the re-imagined version of the song.

The new, live recording of the song has been reworked to not only match Rimes' current maturity, but to include a soulful jazz vibe. The sophistication of Rimes' voice lends itself beautifully to the heavy-hearted message that she first sang about in more than twenty years ago, in 1996.

Rimes first shared the song with Taste of Country, recalling that the song's impact on her life dates back to her pre-teen years. "I originally recorded the song ‘Blue’ right before I turned 12 years old," Rimes explains. "It is crazy to think how this one song changed the course of my life."

"Blue," which was the title track of Rimes' freshman album, was originally written and recorded by Bill Mack in the 1950s. The song was was certified gold in 1998 for sales in excess of 500,000 units. The success of the song helped her Blue album soar to the top of the charts, selling more than 6 million copies.

Rimes won three ACM Awards in 1996, including Single of the Year and Song of the Year, both for "Blue." She also won two Grammy Awards in 1997, including one for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, for "Blue;" that honor made Rimes the youngest individual artist to win a Grammys trophy, a record that she still holds today.

"Blue" isn't the only song Rimes has returned to lately: She recently revisited her 1997 hit song, "How Do I Live," in a stripped-down, emotional rendition.

Rimes released her 16th and latest studio album, Remnants, in 2017, and followed it up with the Long Live Love Club Tour in promotion of the project. She will appear at the 2018 Taste of Country Music Festival, which takes place June 8-10 in Hunter, N.Y.; Rimes joins a lineup including Florida Georgia LineAshley McBrydeDustin Lynch and many more country artists. "Blue (Re-Imagined)" is available on iTunes now.
