I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but Halloween has gone from being a one night a year event to an entire month-long celebration of parties, candy, horror movies and zombie runs. Not that I'm complaining, I love Halloween, but it can be hard to keep track of everything that's going on. Here is a useful list of dates for this year's Halloween season.

October 15 - 'Toy Story of Terror' and 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' will air on ABC beginning at 7 p.m. CT. 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' is celebrating its 48th anniversary this year.

October 17 - Fear Fest begins on AMC. Season 5 of 'The Walking Dead' premieres before Fear Fest officially begins, on Sunday, October 12 at 8 p.m CT.

October 18 - Monster Mash Martini Bash. The Not So Fine Arts Society in Quincy is hosting its 6th annual Zombie Crawl from 8 p.m. to midnight beginning at Martinis at 515.

October 18 - A Night at the Granite Bank Gallery, 428 Maine Street. A presentation from IL-MO Lights Out Investigation. 7 - 11 p.m. Tickets $30, limit of 20 availalbe. Call 217-779-9464.

October 19 - Cadan's Carnival at the Quincy Knights of Columbus Hall from 1 - 5 p.m. Halloween family fun! Costume contest, carnival games, hay rides, horse rides, etc. Free admission, prices on rides and games vary. Cadan's Carnival benefits CDH (congenital diaphragmatic hernia) research. October 25 - Halloween Parade in downtown Hannibal. Lineup begins at 5:30, the parade starts at 6:30. If you have questions, contact Jean McBride at the Marion County Health Department at 573-221-1166.

October 25 - Camp Boo-Ko-Tipi at Camp Oko-Tipi in Saverton. 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Hayrides, face painting, bobbing for apples, pumpkin painting, trick-or-treat trail. Free! Contact the Hannibal YMCA at 573-221-0586.

October 25 - Putt-or-Treat at Sawyer's Creek. 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. $9 arm bands includes unlimited outdoor activities, candy from area businesses, costume contest entry and kids' carnival games. No charge for parents with the paid children

October 25 - Run for Your Life 5K. The Pike County Health Department's second annual Run for Your Life 5K Run/Walk at Bowling Green Reservoir begins at 4 p.m. Registration starts at 3. Trophies will be given to the 1st female and 1st male survivors, as well as to the best costume overall. Online registration available. You must be 11 or older to participate.

October 26 - Family Pumpkin Carving. The Kroc Center in Quincy invites families to carve pumpkins from 3 - 4 p.m. All ages are welcome and tools will be provided. The cost is $10 per pumpkin. Located in the Meadows. Please register before October 24.

October 26 - Pumpkins in the Park pumpkin decorating contest at Nipper Park in Hannibal. 3 - 5 p.m. Categories: Scariest, Most Original, and Funniest. Age Groups: Children (12 & Under) and Adults (13 & Up). All pumpkins must be pre-decorated and at Nipper park between 2 - 3 p.m. Call 573-221-0154 for more information.

October 30 - Safe Halloween for Kids. A free event offering a safe alternative for kids to dress in their favorite costumes and go trick-or-treating throughout the recently renovated Eagle’s Nest Hotel & Conference Center in Quincy.

October 31 - Trunk-or-Treat at the Kroc Center. A safe and fun place for kids to trick-or-treat. Trunk-or-Treat will be at the upper parking lot at the Kroc Center. Don’t forget to dress up! For families and children up to 6th grade.
