USA Today Says Missouri Lake Best Place for Water Sports & Danger

I've got good news and bad news. Let's begin with the good stuff first. USA Today readers have just named a Missouri lake as the best place for water sports. The bad news? You're also most likely to die there, so there's that.

This is actually a very nice honor. It's not just USA Today saying that this Missouri lake is the best place to enjoy water sports, but their readers. Power to the people.

You can likely guess which lake got this nice national shout out, but I'll tell you anyway. Congrats to Lake of the Ozarks, the best place for water sports not just in Missouri but the entire United States of America. Oh say can you see...jet skis.

And now for the bad news...

As we've shared before, Lake of the Ozarks is also unanimously considered the most dangerous lake in America leading the nation in fatalities. Some national lists that don't have it at #1 almost always have it in the top 10.

Let's be clear that this is separate from the USA Today reader's poll. They did not vote on a most dangerous lake (I don't think), but this applies because it's boating accident fatalities that Lake of the Ozarks leads the nation in.

Circling back to the happy part of this story. There is almost certainly no better place in America to enjoy the water at than Lake of the Ozarks. It's just good to know that you need to mentally prepare to be extra cautious when you go there to relax. Better safe (and hopefully fun too) than sorry.
