Six Flags Great America is gearing up to celebrate a major milestone—50 years of thrills, memories, and family fun.

What’s New for the 50th Anniversary

The park officially opens for the season on April 25, but the golden anniversary celebration really gets underway on June 20. That’s when guests can experience all-new entertainment, including a nighttime spectacular that promises to light up the sky. There will also be a brand-new parade featuring themed floats, along with an impressive drone show filled with special effects unlike anything the park has done before.

To make the most of the celebration, the park will extend its hours, staying open until 10 p.m. from June 20 through August 9. Visitors can also grab exclusive anniversary merchandise and take part in a unique opportunity to purchase personalized anniversary bricks. Those bricks will become part of the Great American Legacy Path in Carousel Plaza, giving fans a chance to leave their mark on the park’s history.

Of course, Six Flags Great America is still home to some of the most exciting roller coasters around, including American Eagle, BATMAN: The Ride, Goliath, and Maxx Force.
