86 Dogs Just Rescued From a Missouri Puppy Mill

I love my birth state of Missouri, but I'll be the first to admit it has some serious problems. Near the top of the list are puppy mills that churn out large numbers of animals who face a life of neglect and suffering. Fortunately, a rescue group just saved a large number of them recently and are in the process of getting them ready for adoption.

Thanks to whoever shared this story on the Missouri sub-Reddit that put it on my radar. It's about 86 dogs that were just rescued by Animal Rescue Corps. I found their original share on their social media pages of how they rescued 86 dogs in Missouri just a few days ago.

It appears that many of the animals they found are in decent condition, but there are a few that required surgery. All of the animals are reported to be adjusting to human contact after years of neglect.

How many puppy mills are there in Missouri?

Around 800 to 1,000 commercial breeding operations are active across the state of Missouri which is why it is ranked #1 in America for puppy mills. I was fortunate to grow up with two dogs who were especially important to me growing up as an only child. It hurts my heart to think of so many animals entering life this way. That's one reason why my family has adopted 3 rescue animals over the past few years and I highly encourage doing it if you're on the fence. You will not find a pet more grateful for affection and attention than a rescue. Here's hoping and praying that all 86 of these Missouri dogs find the great loving homes they deserve.
