The Mayans predicted the world would end in 2012, but now scientists from MIT used computer models to predict the end of the world, and let's just say you shouldn't make important plans for the year 2041.

I just read a story on ladbible.com (to read it for yourself click here) it talks about a group of scientists at the famous MIT, near Boston, using a computer model to try and predict the exact year the world will end and they came up with the year 2040, not 2039, not 2041, but 2040...

In the article they say...

"Scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) looked at data patterns from a variety of different factors, such as population, natural resources and energy usage to find out when we’d experience full societal collapse...The prediction made by the researchers was that this fall of society would hit near the midpoint of the 21st century - 2040, to be exact."

Now what is crazy about this prediction is that it was actually made in the 1970's and when the prediction was made it was predictably laughed off. But as recent as 2009 another study was done using similar data points and updating current numbers and the end result was the world would end in 35 years, so 2009 +35 = 2044.

I don't know about you all but I am always down to hear an end of the world prediction, I am only 31 years old and have lived through Y2K and 2012 so nothing scares me at this point. To be honest, it is weird to think that we could actually have the data and the computers to predict the world's demise, I hope these numbers are wrong and we get to live way beyond 2040 (or 2044 take your pick), do you believe this type of predictions, should we be concerned?
