The Oldest Licensed Daycare in Illinois is Located in Quincy

I was lucky enough to have both my girls attend this daycare when they were young and loved every second of it.

I never knew that when my girls attended Cheerful Home in Quincy it was the oldest licensed daycare in the state. I later discovered that my father-in-law also participated at the same daycare when he was young.

Cheerful Home Child Care (founded in 1886) has been caring for children for over 135 years. The daycare was founded by Miss Cornelia Collins and has been at its current location, 315 South 5th Street, since 1935.

Since being at its current location the daycare has added on a gymnasium and offices, established the Outreach Family Support (1975), opened an infant/toddler care center in 1986, because it is the first nationally accredited child care center in Quincy, and is 2010 achieved Illinois Quality Rating Scale Level 3.

So it's faith to say that Cheerful Home is a staple in Quincy history for families. I was fortunate enough to be a small part of their history (well my girls anyway), and I am still in contact with most of their teachers to this day. They love seeing how big the girls are getting. Those are relationships that I will keep forever.
