Illinois Flag Commission Says They Won’t Release Finalists Until January
Many were under the impression that during (or at the conclusion) of the Illinois Flag Commission meeting today (Dec. 9) at the Illinois State Library in Springfield, and that the ten finalist flags would be unveiled. That didn’t happen.
After receiving in the neighborhood of 5000 submissions for a new state flag of Illinois, the commission decided today that they would only give yes votes to flag designs with; Abraham Lincoln’s face, the outline of the state and text on them, or—a combo of 2 or all three of those…???
This didn’t go down like those watching online thought it would.
Are Illinois residents surprised that this commission hit a snag in the execution of its’ plan? The group met from 9:30 to noon today. Finally, after 1p they made a decision. That decision was to push the final flags unveiling.
The Commission says now they will unveil the ten finalist flags for people to vote on January 1st.
