If you haven't finalized your plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas, might I suggest volunteering your time. Here's why.

As parents, we try to teach our children right from wrong and how to be kind, caring, and above all, thankful. As my girls are filling out their lists for Santa, it got me thinking that I have not done a great job on teaching them how to be grateful for what they have. So I had them stop while I did my best to explain to them what it means to be grateful.

So this year, I am strongly thinking about having them serve Thanksgiving dinner at the Kroc Center. I think this will serve as a good lesson and show them that it's a good idea to help people out every now and then. I want the girls to be thankful for what they have and to see how lucky they are to have the things they have.

So this year, spend a few hours volunteering your time. The Salvation Army is looking for several volunteers this holiday season. They're needing folks to assist with meals, make Christmas baskets, assist with holiday programs, and do some bell-ringing at a red kettle.

If you would like to volunteer you can sign up here, for as much volunteering as you want.
