The US Men's National Soccer team made it through the group stage at the 2022 World Cup and into the round of 16 where they lost 3-1 to the Netherlands. It was a really solid showing for a talented young American squad, team USA has come a long way since failing to qualify for the last Men's World Cup back in 2018.

Millions of Americans watched as Team USA fell to the Netherlands on Saturday morning, but the people of St. Louis were really tuned in. According to, St. Louis ranked 2nd amount national TV markets for watching the game. The site says...

"According to data compiled by Nielsen Media Research, a third of St. Louis-area households with a television in use watched the Americans’ 3-1 loss to Netherlands on KTVI (Fox 2) on Saturday morning, making our city the second-most engaged market in the nation for the round of 16 showdown. Cincinnati was the country’s top market, while Washington, D.C., Kansas City, and Austin followed St. Louis to round out the top five."

St. Louis being 2nd is crazy, especially because among TV markets St. Louis is actually the 24th largest market according to Wikipedia. So, St. Louis is punching wayyyyy above its weight class when it comes to soccer fandom. Maybe it's because the city of St. Louis has soccer fever with the addition of a new MLS Soccer team starting next year. Did you watch Team USA vs Netherlands?
