Great Girlfriend Getaway Happening Soon in Hannibal
Gather up your girlfriends and get over to Hannibal the weekend of April 23-25. The Great Girlfriend Getaway in the historic downtown district is back for 2021.
This year’s event features all kinds of events, discounts, coupons, and promotions. The Main Street merchants will open their doors for various demonstrations and samples. You find tea sampling, complimentary strawberry lemonade, coffee, and cookies. When you visit, you’ll be treated to live music and entertainment throughout the weekend.
One of the most popular events is sure to be Friday, April 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. That’s when Annie Rose Boutique at 115 South Main St. will be serving complimentary wine and offering exclusive deals in a Sip and Shop event. Hannibal now has an open container ordinance that allows you to have alcohol outdoors in the historic district, and long as it’s not packaged in glass.
The Hannibal History Museum is hosting ladies only Ghost Tours over the weekend. The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum has a special exhibit featuring love letters between Sam Clemens and his wife Olivia from the start of their courtship though their marriage.
The theme of the Great Girlfriend Getaway is a quote from Mark Twain, "There is nothing comparable to the endurance of a woman." The Mark Twain Museum Gallery at 120 N. Main will have t-shirts with the slogan.
