Missouri Police Turn to Drones for Faster Emergency Response
With technology advancing on a daily basis, it makes sense that some of that tech would find its way to local and state policing. The military has been using drones for multiple jobs for decades. Drone technology is already in use and is expanding to more police departments in Missouri.

“DFR” stands for Drones as First Responders and the program is being considered in some Missouri communities, and is already being deployed in others. The military originally began using drones for reconnaissance. Some Missouri cities have deployed drones as first responders to give police eyes on the scene of emergencies before personnel can get there to assess the situation as quickly as possible.
Police departments across the U.S. have used drones for years.
The drones are being based at tech hubs in some places (like O’Fallon, Mo.) or on top of buildings in other areas and cities that are traditionally places of high crime, for as quick a response as possible for visual identification. St. Louis County police, Kansas City police department, O’Fallon, Blue Springs, and yes Hannibal, Mo. are already deploying, or are in the process of implementing drones to assist local police.

Real time info for officers en route to a situation gives them a needed first step before they arrive on scene so that they can hit the ground running. In emergencies, moments matter. Get used to seeing theses drones above when trouble arises in Missouri. Expect expansion of the DFR program to other cities, especially when data can show benefits of their usage.
