Drakes Steak and Ale, a popular Hannibal restaurant that has been in business for over four years, has announced that they will be opening a second location in Quincy. Owners Kevin Howell and Tim Hart made a visit to KHMO for an exclusive interview, where they discussed the timeline for opening the new restaurant, an upcoming job fair for all positions with the new Drakes, and what customers can expect at the Quincy location.

"We're very, very excited to announce that we're going to be opening in Quincy, as well," said Tim Hart, who was quick to address rumors that Drakes would be moving to Quincy and closing the Hannibal location. "That's not the case at all. We have no plans to take that store anywhere," said Hart.

The Quincy location of Drakes Steak and Ale will be in the old Civic Center Hotel, which is currently under renovation. "We'll actually be inside the hotel building. It's right be the Oakley Lindsay Center. The main dining room is actually going to be where Lily's lounge was."

The Quincy Drakes Steak and Ale will have the same menu as the Hannibal restaurant, according to Kevin Howell. "Everything's going to be pretty much duplicated. We're going to have a wood-fire grill, as we have here in Hannibal." Howell said some minor menu changes are being considered for both Drakes locations. "We're going to change a couple steaks, bring back some steaks we had previously, etc."

Howell also said that the look of the new restaurant will also be similar to the current location, "The decor actually will be very similar to what we have here in Hannibal."

For those interested in working at the new Drakes Steak and Ale, a job fair is scheduled at the hotel on May 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. "We're looking to fill any and all positions," said Hart, "wait staff, kitchen staff, management staff... as well as the hotel, we're combining the job fairs together. They are staffing a 145 room hotel."

Howell and Hart are hoping to open the new Drakes location in Quincy at the beginning of July.
