Did You Know This Pittsfield Native Is In The New Star Wars Movie!?
I know you're going to check out Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi this weekend. We all are. It's going to be the biggest movie of the year. A year that also gave us Wonder Woman, Guardians of the Galaxy, Beauty & The Beast and Bye Bye Man. You know... the BIG movies. Anyway while you're there, keep your eyes peeled for Pittsfield native Tim Rose, making his third appearance in the galaxy far, far away.
Tim Rose makes a return appearance in the Star Wars franchise. He first appeared in 1983's Return of the Jedi as Admiral Ackbar, who uttered the famous "IT'S A TRAP!" line while attacking the second Death Star with General Lando Calrissian. Ackbar wouldn't return until 2015's The Force Awakens with small role, and was confirmed as a returning character for The Last Jedi, which opens today.
It is important to note that Tim Rose is the body actor and puppeteer for Ackbar, while the voice actor, Eric Bauersfeld, passed away early in 2016. Rose is an accomplished puppeteer beyond Star Wars, having worked on various Muppets projects, The Dark Crystal, and Howard the Duck.
So let's all go out there and cheer Tim Rose on as he helpfully points out what is and is not a trap.
