Brothers Osborne are starting out 2018 the right way: with a brand-new single. Readers can press play above to hear "Shoot Me Straight," a barn-burner of a tune.

"Shoot Me Straight" finds TJ Osborne preparing for a painful breakup, and getting ready to cure it with a little (okay, a lot of) alcohol: "So do what you gotta do / So I can get to gettin' over you," he sings in the second verse.

"Make it burn the whole way down / Lay my six-foot four-inch a-- out on the ground," goes the chorus of "Shoot Me Straight." "Yeah, tomorrow I'll have a hard hangover and one hell of a heartache / So pour it on like a shot of whiskey / And shoot me straight."

Listeners might be surprised by the length of "Shoot Me Straight": It's nearly seven minutes long in its full form. An edited version of the song will cut half of the track to work for radio, leaving in a few blistering guitar riffs courtesy of John Osborne, but fans who really want to hear him shred should listen to the album version.

Jay Joyce produced "Shoot Me Straight;" Brothers Osborne are working with him on their upcoming new album, the follow-up project to their acclaimed debut disc, Pawn Shop. The Osborne's wrote the song with Lee Thomas Miller.

"Shoot Me Straight" will officially released on Friday (Jan. 5).
