Each Friday at 9:30am, KICK-FM will feature an artist on the rise during the Breakthrough Artist of the Week.

Growing up in a small fishing community, in a fishing family, Jessie G knows the meaning of work for what you've got. And she's carried that mentality into he music career. She started playing in her teens, and later formed a rock band, but it was winning a contest that really catapulted her career. Jessie G won a Battle of the Bands, earning an spot opening for the Redneck Woman herself, Gretchen Wilson. After hearing Jessie G, Wilson would go on to say, "I heard her voice from my bus and I knew she was something special.” The friendship and working relationship the two formed would push Jessie G to move to Nashville and pursue her career. Wilson signed her to Redneck Records, and the two have been working together ever since, both in the studio and on the road. For more about Jessie G, head to her website. Her debut single, 'Army Ranger' is available on iTunes.
