Are Dinosaurs Still Lurking in Illinois?
Do you have kids in the family that love dinosaurs? Most families do. Maybe you still love dinosaurs also, that’s cool too. Just east of McHenry in Volo Illinois is Jurassic Gardens where dinosaurs still prowl and roar. A unique visit for anyone, but for the dinosaur fan in your family it’s a must-do.

Dozens of animatronic dinosaurs await nestled within a realistic (short of the smell) prehistoric habitat that embraces your other senses and will immerse you in adventure. You can also learn about paleontology and get interactive by participating in a junior dinosaur dig.
There are extras at Jurassic Gardens too, including mini golf (of course amongst dinosaurs), and a Mesozoic themed arcade. A nice touch is their “Sensory Sundays”. On Sundays between 10a and noon they turn down the extra immersive audio for a calmer dinosaur experience for those who experience overstimulation.
Jurassic Gardens is just one part of the Volo Country Village. Several attractions all next to each other, including a car museum, an exhibit on the Titanic, a party barn (!!!), an ice cream parlor, pizzeria, an antique mall and seasonal attractions with narrated rides through them. Meaning that there is something for everyone in the family all in one place in tiny Volo, Illinois.
