It's easy spending other people's money. With that disclaimer out of the way, I think I know the perfect location for a drive-in theater in Hannibal and I believe a fortune could be made if someone could make it happen.

One of the reasons why I believe this is a great idea (which admittedly costs me nothing) is the Hannibal Bar-B-Q Festival has been such a great success. Jason and his staff have made the grounds between Market Street and Hannicon Drive a really nifty place for artists to perform.

Here's my theory (that is probably flawed in some great way). The festival has been an annual celebration every July the past few years. What if those grounds were used with a large drive-in movie screen and instead of cars, people could watch movies while sitting in folding chairs or blankets?

My thought is there are 3 Spring months before the festival in July and 3 decent weather months after the festival when it could become a go-to outdoor movie place.

This would require a major investment for sure as the technology to show new digital movies is much more expensive than the old days of projectors. I am personally convinced that the enthusiasm that we received when we recently shared the news of a drive-in opening in Litchfield, Illinois would support it. We had thousands tagging friends and talking about making a 3-hour road trip. How much more willing would people be to support a local outdoor movie option in our own backyard?
