5 Ways to Keep Your Pipes From Freezing
I noticed while on my social media accounts that many of my friends' pipes are freezing due to the cold weather. So I did a little research to find out the best ways to keep pipes from freezing. Here's what I found...
- 1
Keep Your Heat On
Seems simple enough, right? If your house is warm, then your pipes will stay warm as well. Make sure your furnace is in tip-top-shape and replace filters at least once a month.
- 2
Keep Your Faucets Dripping
Keeping your faucets lightly running should keep your pipes from freezing. I am no plumber, but I have heard of this and I know it works.
- 3
Keep Kitchen/Bathroom Cabinet Doors Open
With most pipes in the bathroom and kitchen, a simple crack opened cabinet can let heat in to help warm the pipes hidden behind cabinet doors.
- 4
Seal Up Cracks and Holes
Make sure all the cracks and holes in your pipes are sealed up pretty tightly. This will help to keep the cold out and the warmth in.
- 5
Add Extra Insulation
There is always room to add more insulation. By adding this around where are pipes are will help warm the pipes.
