The National Weather Service has issued Wind Chill Advisories for most of the area from Wednesday evening through midday Thursday.

The advisory for Clark County, Missouri and Hancock County, Illinois starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The wind chills there are expected to dip as low as 25 degrees below zero.

The advisory for Adams and Brown counties in Illinois and the Missouri counties of Knox, Lewis, Shelby and Marion kicks in at 9 p.m., with predicted wind chills as low as 20 below.

The weather service reminds you that the sub-zero wind chills can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

This round of cold temperatures is going to hang around at least for the next week.

High temperatures for the area Thursday will barely hit double digits, with lows near zero Thursday night. The good news is that the winds are expected to die down.

Between now and next Tuesday, we are only expected to get above freezing Saturday and Monday, with lows in the low to mid teens Friday through Monday.
