Which Two Dog Breeds Does Missouri Prefer?
Current Missouri dog owners and potential dog owners are keen to find and adopt these two specific breeds.
From the Forbes survey heading into 2024, in the Show-Me state Australian Shepherds and American Bulldogs are preferred above others.
Australian Shepherds:
Distinctive in appearance with mesmerizing eyes and (in many cases) merle coat patterns. Australian Shepherds are very smart and instinctively want to herd things as it’s in their DNA. They are ready to learn and work and are commonly ranch dogs. They’ll need active stimulation. They need to play and are designed to handle responsibilities. They are excellent with kids and when their activity level is managed properly they have an exceptional chill side. But they are always alert and at the ready to handle business.
American Bulldogs:
Initially sought for work around the family farm for various duties as their attributes of strength and agility can be applied to many responsibilities, but American Bulldogs also are known to historically have a skill set that lends itself to catch and bring down feral pigs. They are good with kids and other dogs and are certainly ready to learn, whether that’s for play or specific responsibilities. Don’t sell your American Bulldog short.
Also Missourians are have elevated interest in Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds and French Bulldogs.
