Have you noticed a little extra flair of patriotism gracing the empty lot at 24th Broadway this weekend?Arranged in a right angle pointed toward the intersection are thirteen American flags and two banners reading “What’s With The Flags?” and a corresponding phone number.

The flags are to promote the Quincy Exchange Club’s “Flags of Honor” program in which residents can rent an American flag (and seven-foot flagpole) for $30 a year and a member of the club will set it up and take it down on the following holidays: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

Proceeds from the program will benefit the Quincy Exchange Club’s programs of service in Americanism, Youth Activities, Community Service and our national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse.
