
Warning: Vegetables Recalled in Illinois for Illness Risk
A massive recall of whole cucumbers has been issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), affecting 15 states, including Illinois.
Vegetable Recall in Illinois from the CDC
A recall for whole cucumbers was issued on May 19th following a CDC report linking the produce to a Salmonella outbreak. According to the release, 26 people across 15 states have become ill, including two confirmed cases in Illinois. The CDC advises consumers to avoid eating recalled cucumbers as the investigation continues.

Businesses are advised to stop selling the recalled cucumbers, which were distributed by Fresh Start Produce between April 29th and May 19th. The cucumbers were shipped to grocery stores, restaurants, and other facilities during that time frame.

What Should You Do?
The CDC recommends throwing away cucumbers immediately if you’re unsure where they came from. If you experience symptoms after eating the contaminated cucumbers, such as a fever of 102°F or higher, diarrhea lasting more than three days, vomiting, or signs of dehydration, contact your healthcare provider right away.
