Illinois Town Makes List of the World’s Most Awkward City Name

There have been times when I have been traveling that I either can't pronounce a town name or giggle because of it. One town in Illinois is getting recognized for its name, but now in a good way.

We have amazing towns in Illinois (and some not so amazing), but there is one that made a list that I'm pretty sure they don't want to be on, or they are just used to being on a list like this. Welcome to Boody, Illinois home to 300 people, and according to Wayback Machine the town has one of the most awkward names in the world.

I don't think I could tell people that I am from Boody, Illinois. I would have to say a small town in Illinois. I'm sure that is what most of the people in Boody do unless they are proud to be from the town they heck, claim it. The town is named after Col. Williams H Boody.

Boody, Illinois is so small that the elementary school was listed for sale and sold as a five-bedroom home. As you can imagine there is not much to see or do in Boody, but a town this small gets a ton of attention because of its name.
